| so im shopping on gunbroker for 1911's and i see a SW 1911 that says its "NY compliant". what does that mean?? im guessing some sort of unecessary safety of some sort? |
It means that it comes with a fired shell casing from the factory for compliance with the NYSP COBIS System. Theyve spent $28 million for the system and it has helped "solve" (2) crimes. One was a "prohibited use of weapon case" and the other, a "shots fired" case from a stolen gun. Not bad for $4 million a year huh? www.ocshooters.com/Reports/cobis/cobis.htm |
