I'll go with The Bible longest running production of any book, translated into the most languages, and read by more people.

I'll go with that as the 'best'.

It's not an accurate history book and it's not entertaining fiction.

I liked Gates of Fire and Democracy in America.

Was written by novices.

I am in the middle of Unintended Consequences and it's great.

I also like the book Hatchet by Gary Paulsen(I think) and I love The Lord of the Rings.

The Qur'an has that beat now

Nope, not even close.

The Bible has parts that were written THOUSANDS of years proior to the birth of the epileptic pedofile.

The Bible is still the most translated work 2400 different languages with another 1600 on the way - compared to the Qur'an's 102.

Sure there are other books I prefer reading.  But IMHO 'Best' has got to mean 'most read', 'most produced', and/or 'most influential' by any of those milestones The Bible is the 'Best'.

I was only addressing the "more people" part. Last I heard, there were more muslims than christians, or at least there will be soon. And frankly the people they keep counting as christian in Europe, really aren't.

How many muslims in those 3rd world shitholes have READ the koran?  Let alone how many of the Imans?

How about they try to memorize what the local Iman says - who may or may not have a copy of the Koran or have read it.

It's utterly amazing that the teachings in that book led to more death, slavery, and starvation in the 20th century than any war could ever hope to have. It should be kept in the "fairy tale" section of the bookstores because unless you are very uneducated and have no concept of human nature, CM comes off as a fairy tale in lala land.

So Batman The Dark Knight and Titanic are the best movies ever made? And Micheal Jackson and the Eagles are the greatest artists of all time? Come on man. The Bible is fiction written to keep apes in line 2000 years ago. Ive read it, it sucks.

When those "works of art"  have influenced as many people, and built as many empires perhaps they could be considered the 'best' like The Bible.

Till then, they are not in the same league.
