I have never watched Blade Runner.

Earlier today I picked up the Bluray Special OMGWTFBBQ version that has something like four versions of the movie.

As a noob, which directors/final/first/producers cut should I watch first?

Here's what I have:

The Final Cut
US Theatrical Cut (1982)
International Cut (1982)
Directors Cut (1992)

The version I saw(repeatedly)was pretty good, don't know which "version" it was though

ETA: start with US theatrical cut, then "final cut" next(I've always HATED "directors cut")

I like the theatrical cut.  US that is, dont think ive seen the international.

Ridley started playing around with it too much in the various directors/final cuts, sometimes you just step back from a masterpiece and stop fiddling with it.

I think the Theatrical Cut is awsome!!!!!! The Directors Cut is a POS. I have not seen the other two cuts you spoke of.

Was it ever re-released?  I recall seeing a couple-three years ago that it was going to have a theatrical re-release, but I don't recall ever seeing it out.

I'd love to see at least parts of that film on an Imax screen. The city shots are amazing.

The director's cut doesn't have the voice over that explains much of what's going on.  It's definitely not the one to watch first.

The Theatrical Cut has the voice-over which helps to understand the movie.  Once you've seen it, you can follow the Director's Cut easily.

That said, if you've never seen the movie before, watch the Director's Cut first.  Then when you watch the US Theatrical Cut, the difference will be more striking to you.

The book is very good but differs from the movie.

The last part is taken out too.  In directors cut, it doesnt show them bugging out

My personal favorite is the '92 Director's Cut.  Blade Runner is one of my all time FAVORITE movies and I really consider this particular version to be the very best.  It is a true film masterpiece, one of the best movies ever made.

As opposed to the U.S Theatrical Cut there's no voice-over in the opening scenes (and honestly I kind of miss that) but the rest of the movie is phenomenal.  There are questions raised in this version that are just not quite adequately addressed in the U.S. Theatrical Cut.  I won't give anything away but make sure to count the number of Replicants - it'll make sense later.

If you enjoy this movie even HALF as much as I do (well, and a lot of the rest of us) you're in for a real treat!

Goddamnit... now I need to get out my DVD.

And I can't even do it tonight... GF's coming over.  She wouldn't stay long if I fired up Blade Runner

Its kind of weird.

32yo, watched a lot of sci-fi, I think I've seen all of Harrison Ford's other movies, and I've never watched Blade Runner.

Anyone jealous I get to watch this movie for the first time tonight?

I saw it in the theater and went back to see it again the next night.

I never did that before or since.

Great movie.
