Need help putting this twit AK LOU in his place, does anyone have a source for the gun related death stats. I know he is wrong but I can't find the facts to back me.. See the Forum thread in the link below..

CDC has a program that you can use to mine data...Firearms as a cause of death are among the datasets that have...lots of good info there.

I think this is the one that really drove lou batshit. I love throwing this in their face when they use that particular statistic..

Is that how you measure usefulness, by # of people killed? That's rather sick. I prefer to count the benefit based on lives saved and crimes prevented.

I remember reading a story about a woman who was attacked by a large man. She had a small caliber gun and grabbed it when the man broke in. She shot him several times despite him beating her severely. He broke her cheek bone and tried to pull the gun from her hand twice. He died on the scene. She spent several weeks in the hospital recovering. He was not able to get the gun out of her hand and died trying to.

IIRC this was one of the This Happened to Me that appears in Combat Handguns.

Lou bailed when confronted with facts. Still believes that he's safer unarmed. He just hasn't been mugged yet.

The crazy thing is that crime is growing here and there are parts of this town I would not walk in after dark no matter what arm I was carrying.
