My buddy and I are in a dispute about states that can open carry.

I say to open carry it must be open in visable sight, and can not be concealed, once its concealed you need a CHL.

He says if you can open carry, then you can conceal it then also, and don't need a CHL.

Whos is right on this?

You are. Once the handle/grip of the weapon gets covered it is considered a concealed weapon. You need a permit to carry a concealed weapon in most states.

That'll get you arrested for carrying concealed without a permit here.  You are right, at least for Utah, but I'd assume many other states as well.
