is it me, or are more and more magazines just getting more expensive, less written content and 10X more advertising???

my local favorite magazine store is hurting too.. used to be 2x the size it is (was) and now they're relocating so the Landlord can tear the building down and put in a car wash.  They don't expect to do well at the new location as sales have been falling off.

guess the internet is taking it's toll in many venues...

I used to read and subscribe to lots of mags over the years, but those days are long over.
I can get many for free, but I don't even bother anymore...
they don't provide enough material to last through a single throne session

Giant commercials and an otherwise waste of paper. Sad really.

Playboy has gotten uber liberal... I mean, they were always liberal, but they have gotten bad in the last 6 or so issues.

Otherwise, I like Mens Journal and Food&Wine. Forbes is good, but a bit expensive, so I borrow those.

When I was a kid, my family used to fight over the newsweek magazine.  With the internet there is no real reason to get a weekly.  And most of them suck anyway.  With the possible exception of 'the economist' but it's just too expensive.

Mens health used to be good---now it's just a beer and broads rag like Maxim.

One magazine that provides superior insight and content is 'The Atlantic.'  Surprisingly conservative and with great writers like Mark Bowden "Blackhawk Down"  Robert Kaplan and many other heavy hitters.  It's under $20 a year and I learn something new every single time it arrives in the mail.
