Can I deposit one directly into my checking account, or do they have to be cashed at the post office? In the past I've always cashed them at the PO, but sense this one is for an item shipping UPS, depositing it might be more convenient.

You can deposit it, but it will take a couple of days to clear.
If you cast it at the PO you get your money RFN/ FWIW I generally deposit mine.

Bank should accept them nut mau place a hold on the funds since they have been counterfeited repeatedly.

Yes, you can deposit it just like any other money order.
