Weirdest thread ever. Doesn't everyone wear a watch?
6/26/2008 7:52:09 PM EDT

I dont.  I used to, but I have a cell phone so a watch just gets in the way.

My watches are all waterproof to significant depths. My cell phone, not so much.

Plus, I like automatic mechanical watches. <shrug>

Nope, I didn't wear one for a couple of years after I retired. I figgered I didn't give a big rat's ass what time it was.hen

I don't wear a watch or any jewelry. Bugs me.

I wear my G-Shock with pride every day. The cell phone stays in my jacket during work.

You have a "strap on" cell phone that replaces your watch?

When on field exercises I would wear a watch, when in/around civilization I would (and still do) rely exclusively upon my Cell Phone.

My profession at this point in time focuses on my mechanical skills.  It requires welding, cutting and squeezing into small places.  I really don't need something around my wrist during this.

And if I am not doing these things, I am on a computer which has a clock also.

I have a solar atomic G-Shock on my wrist and my cell phone is on my waist daily.

My phone stays in my pocket.  Much easier to just look at my wrist and know what time it is.

Wow, I'm the only one that has neither.  Watches are uncomfortable, and I spend all my money on guns and ammo and can't afford a cell phone.

It would like pretty stupid checking your cellphone every couple minutes to see if it's time to get off from work yet

Wear a watch all day everyday.  Casio solar atomic Pathfinder.

I wear a watch and carry a cell phone. So much easier to look at my wrist than to take my cell phone out of my pocket. Plus, both my watches have easy-to-accesss chronometers, and one has a timer and a heart-rate monitor link, which is nice when exercising.

Very accurate if the you have the correct measurements for the shade at each time of the year ;)

I gave up my cell phone about 2 years ago. I normally wear a watch, although the battery died, so I have been SOL.

If a watch is uncomfortable, you can try this:

6/26/2008 8:23:56 PM EDT
[#24]
Carry 2 cell phones and wear a watch. Easier to rotate my wrist than it is to undo a belt pouch just to check the time.

I got used to wearing a watch before cell phones were around.

I like my watch.

I'm part of the cellphone generation.

I own watches but only wear them when going somewhere I can't bring/don't want to bring my cellphone.

I can't recall the last time I saw anyone my age wearing a watch, and I go to a large college campus twice a week or more.

A watch and a pocketknife were symbols of manhood when I was a kid.

So was a belt

I wear a belt and carry multiple knives daily. I also wear literal jackboots (I actually think they're damn comfy, give me good traction and protect my feet).

But I don't wear a watch regularly... Few do from my generation, even in the redneck and military crowds (not all young people are emos, metros or goths).

I"ll be getting a nice gold watch when I retire. Ironically, that's the day I plan to never wear a watch again.

Clock on my computer, alarm clock at home, clock in my vehicle, several clocks at work, clock radio in my bathroom, clock on my phone, clock on the microwave....

I have never felt the need to have one on my wrist also.

Well said.

A watch has become almost like womens' jewellery these days - an accessory only.

I tried to go without wearing a watch. I discovered that I both look and feel stupid trying to discern the time by glancing at my arm hair.

I voted cellphone only. But honestly, every damn peice of electronics I have displays the time (my multiple computers, my car, my phones, my TV, my DVR, microwave, the wall clocks, my desk phone, etc). That and every watch I have owned, I have broke within weeks/months of buying. Just I just stopped wearing a watch.

Sorry, but I'm a left brained type, I need to know what time it is all the time.  I use my cell so little I'm much more apt to leave it at home than my watch.  If I leave the house without a watch on I'll actually turn my car around and go back and get it, I'm naked without it.    Reaching in my pocket and pulling out a phone to check the time is just plain wasted effort when I could simply tilt my wrist.  Plus, I just got a new watch (Seiko Aviator) and it's fun to play with the slide rule.

We may not see eye to eye on much, but on that one, I'm right with ya.

Not wearing a watch is for right brained artsy people who don't give a shit if they're on time.

I have a cell phone, and a watch.  The watch (TagHeuer Link automatic) doesn't even keep time all that great- I'd say it loses about a minute a month.  I was a little disappointed at first, but I don't care too much. I bought it because it looks good.
