June 13, 2008 --

Tim Russert, NBC journalist and political heavyweight host of "Meet the Press," has died after collapsing at NBC's Washington news bureau, a source said. He was 58 years old.

Russert, who rose from the inside world of politics where he was former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo's press secretary and one-time chief of staff to the late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan, was able to successfully cross over to political journalism and rise to become one of its leading lights.

definately a lib, but he wasn't a raving, lying lib. For the most part (with some exceptions) he did a decent job of giving a balanced view.

Russert was a lib but he was a true professional journalist and kept his political leanings in check far better than most.

He was a good guy and I will miss him.

Damn. It was only a few weeks ago he was interviewing Terry McAuliff who refered to Tim's father in the past tense...Tim corrected Terry as Big Russ is still quite alive.
