When I close a browser window it says it's windows experienced a problem and closes all open windows and reopens IE in a new window. How do I fix this? Scott |

clean install XP? Seriously, check to make sure that you've applied all updates. After that, the easiest way to find known issues is to do a google search with the exact text of the error you receive - may need a little tweaking to narrow down the results, but nine times out of ten it will get you there. Firefox, as mentioned, is great. As much as people bag on Vista, I'm running it on 3 machines - and it's been no less reliable for me than the dozen or so running XP or Server 2k3. |
Thanks, tried to search online but brought up a bunch of non-related stuff, will try harder. Scott |

If it's a recent problem, you can also consider System Restore to a restore point before the error began occurring. Are you certain that you are running all of the latest updates? First, see if you are experiencing the problem detailed here: Knowledge Base Article |

Firefox yada yada... install XP... heard it all before. The problem is, the computer may, and probably does, have hardware for which there are no XP drivers. It isn't that simple. He could spend weeks trying to get all the drivers and configure his computer to run on XP. |
