Is "The Ark of Truth" in any way at all related to SG Atlantis?

I'm working my way through the seasons. I've watched seasons 1-9 of SG1, and a few from 10, and then realized they had an episode tied in with Atlantis, so I had to stop there. I've watched the first two seasons of Atlantis, and now I'm waiting for the DVDs to arrive for 3 and 4. I have "Ark of Truth" already, but I don't want to watch it before Atlantis 3 or 4 if they are related at all.

Side note...I was always a big SG1 fan, but I lost track of it somewhere around Season 5. Having seen most of the series now, I still prefer the first 5-6 seasons over the last few. I actually kind of like LTC Mitchell (Browder) in Season 9, but I can't stand this Ori stuff.

I like Atlantis, although they frequently piss me off with their trusting of other cultures where they are obviously going to get burned. On the other hand, there has been more than one occasion where I was kind of surprised that they actually pushed the limits to do what they had to do where SG1 probably wouldn't have. I liked the episode where the Gen'ai took over Atlantis and Shepard took out all those men on his own. When he came across Ford who had a stunner, he said, "Get rid of that thing, you don't need it...shoot to kill."

One thing that is obviously frustrating is that they don't seem to have brought a single Zat with them to Atlantis. In Season 1, rather than carrying a handy little Zat, they're carrying those huge stunners that they have to hold like a damn rocket launcher.

Nope, not related.  It has Inara, not Kaylee

Alright, thanks.

Nice. I just got done watch the first 2 seasons. Im pissed because I dont have season 3, and season 2 ended with a "to be continued". Can you tell me what happens to the team after they get the brain scan thing in the fake base, and then they try to escape and get caught. That chick who breaths on people pulled out a stomach snake and was going to put it in one of them??????????????Thanks!!

I'm with you! The first few seasons were much better then the very last few. Although even those had a couple quality episodes.

Too bad I can't stand Atlantis, no matter how hard I try.

The Ark of Truth was pretty good.

The new movie is supposed to have lots of the old characters, and I think it's coming out this summer.

Turn in your nerd card.  Firefly DVD set can be had for a song at any Walmart and it's inarguably the best Sci-fi series in the past 20 years.

Actually, the post library here has the entire Firefly series on DVD. I can go borrow it for free. I'll get it next time I see it available.

Doh!  Missed the who KOR under your name.  You have a decent enough excuse.  Definately check it out at your first opportunity.  It was a short lived series (thank you my FOX fuckers) so you can get through the entire show and the movie in just a few nights.

Also had a kickass theme song any good arfcommer will be stirred by.  It was actually written by the show creater, Joss Whedon...who is also responsible for Buffy the Vampire slayer.  Lucky bastard got to work Sarah Michelle Geller and Alyson Hannigan for years.

EDIT: Scenes from the movie set to the series theme song.

Sorry for thoroughly hijacking a thread you intended to be about Stargate.

As long as continuity is concerned, both SG-1 and Atlantis are in the same universe. IIRC, The Ark of Truth occurred after SG-1 Season 10, and between Atlantis seasons 3 and 4.

That's alright, I have plenty of time to kill here, might as well fill it with SciFi.

That is a good theme too. And that trailer looks cool enough to motivate me into picking it up soon.

Actually, looking at the release dates on IMDB, Ark of Truth was supposedly released after Atlantis Season 4 ended.
