While visiting my parents I came across a nice little stash of ammo that I forgot about.  I was wondering what I'd have to do to mail it back to my home in Nevada.  I would shoot it all here in Ohio but all the ammo is for weapons that are back at my house.  Could I just take it to the post office or the UPS store and mail it.  All it is is a SA battle pack of 7.62, some .30 cal carbine and some Wolf 7.62x39, and some assorted pistol and .22 LR ammo.  I think the total is around 1000 rounds total.  just enough to fill a .50 can.  What do you think folks?  Could I mail this stuff home?  Any insight you guys could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Send it by UPS.  Mark package correctly per UPS/ATF requirements.  Should be no issues.

US mail will not take ammo.  You could ship it UPS but have to do so from a UPS customer service center, not a UPS store.  The UPS stores are franchises and not direct UPS as is required.

My local UPS Store happily shipped a Bushmaster M17 back east to a FFL for a private party sale/transfer.  No problem.
