............focus all of its attention to Saudi Arabia and the oil fields? Image the damage they could do to the US economy if oil production was under daily attack. Imagine if Al-Qaeda moved its main operation base from Iraq into Saudi Arabia wile still maintaining a small insurgency in Iraq. They cant beat us militarily you would think they would go for our economy. Make any sense? |

SA is their ultimate 'holy ground' according to OBL - his ever changing 'reason' for attacking us once included his pique that we had stationed troops there during the first Gulf war. Apparently having people in the middle of nowhere was an atrocity for him. Of course once we won, we pulled out of SA into Kuwait, but he moved the goal post to "well now you're attacking another muslim country (Iraq), so the goal posts changed not that anyone on the Left noticed. It was enough that we were being accused of being big meanies for them to glom on to the charge as truth itself  . With his rhetoric behind him, he can't attack SA without being a hypocrite. And the oil IS guarded... AQ did try something a year or so ago and didn't make it beyond the first of 3 layers of fencing/berms. Oh and for all the hullaballoo over the proposed fence along the Southern US border, SA is building a humongous berm/wall/fence line between itself and Oman/Yemen with the world not caring a bit. Other countries can do things all day long with no one caring. We do something vaguely similar and the Left goes nuts. |
