As some of you know, my family has a small store. One of the things we sell are scooters. Not just the 50cc liquercycles but some 150cc & 250cc versions. Well yesterday we had a woman show up & start looking at them. She doesn't want to spend more than $600, doesn't want to get a motorcycle endorsement but wants one that's made in America & goes about 60mph. ![]() After I explain to her the bike she wants doesn't exist, she starts telling me that I'm the one responsible for all these Americans being out of work & their starving children. I try to explain using belt logic. That's where I explain that most people aren't willing to pay $20 for a belt when they can buy a $5 belt at Walmart even though the Walmart belt is shoddy. So most people have brought it upon themselves but she insists that it's my fault for selling imported scooters. Even though no American company sells scooters. I had to walk off after that before I told her how ignorant she was. And as she was leaving I noticed she was driving a Chevy which are made in Canada And these are the same type of idiots I deal with at Walmart for 7 hours too I just needed to rant. |
That's what I was thinking. When I mentioned that people could make the choice not to buy imported items if they chose, she said she thought the government should do that. If it wasn't for the fact that I'd miss my Arf'com, my parents & my mattress, I'd go live in the mountains like Jeremiah Johnson and be through with society.
I try not to use profanity. And for those that don't know who Jeremiah Johnson was, here's a clip. www.youtube.com/watch?v=le0PV1I-T9U |
I can make good quality leather belts & provide good customer service. But I just can't give you a Walmart price. The belts vary in price but we'll go with the most popular type for the purposes of this illustration. Belt blank alone: $12. Buckle & snaps: 0.75 That's $12.75 if I don't make any profit from the sale. And trying to make money is what capitolisim is about. Can you understand what I'm trying to say? |
