I was up last night catching my dinner for today.
I got six dozen in about three hours. It would have been less trouble to buy some at the grocery store, but at least I know where these have been.

I caught them wading off the beach at Fort De Soto Park near St. Petersburg.

My father is going to cook them. I think he's planning pasta in clam sauce with shrimp.

A cast net in Florida is better than food stamps.

Nice story. Enjoy.

How do you catch them....with a net?

Yeah, just a small net on the end of a pole. The water they were caught in was only 12 inches deep.

I also use an LED headlamp. The shrimp's eyes reflect light so they are very easy to spot at night. I actually use a red light to spot the shrimp, since the glow of their eyes stands out more.
Last night was the first time I've been shrimping, but I catch blue crabs the same way all the time.

There's no way I'm eating the heads.

Those damn spikes on the top of the head hurt like hell when you grab the shrimp. I can't imagine how it would feel going down my esophagus.
