Stupid but I need to know.  Are the rear hand guard clips on an M1 interchangeable with the handguard clip of an M14 and vice versa?

TIA

I don't think they are. M1 Garand has a wood hand guard that is thicker than the M14/M1A.

ETA: Or were you talking about M1A and M14?

no, they are the same part.  I've interchanged many a hand guard clip.  The following parts are all interchangeable between the M1 and M14 (might not be all of them, this is from memory):

rear handguard clip
extractor
extractor spring/plunger
ejector spring/plunger
hammer
hammer spring/plunger
hammer pin
trigger pin
trigger/sear assembly
safety
rear sight (whole assembly), though M14 sights will be metric, and M1 sights will be imperial

might be more I'm missing

Thanx!  I have a DGR stockset coming for one of my M1's and have a handguard clip that I got in a bag of M14 parts from a gunshow and was unsure if it would work..  the clip installed on my M1's looks larger in span but i guees that is because it is, well, installed.

Thanx again!

i hope you've got a pair of handguard clip pliers.  it would be a shame to fuck up a nice DGR stock set

I have a large pair of snap ring pliers.  I dont plan of messing it up

And they are nice wood.  I have them on my other two M1's.  this is a build up from a stripped barreled reciever I got a couple years ago.  Its gonna be a looker for sure.

I believe the M14/M1A ejector is different than the M1 ejector.   The rest of the list looks right.
