I know this is not a technical forum, but since the pic is crappy I thought I would post this here and when I get some better photos post in the Builds Forum.

Anyway, here it is:

RRA 18" Varmint Upper
Sitting on my Bushmaster lower, but I have a Spike's Lower for it. (See below)
LaRue LT104 mount
Leupold Mark 2 3-9x40 Mil Dot

This is with the Spike's Lower and M93b stock:

I bought the M93b for the Varmint, but I don't like the brown on it. It looks better on the Bushmaster. So I have to figure out what stock I am going to get. I wish the UBR's were on the market, but I might get an ACE for it. Any suggestions?

ETA- Really crappy pic, but here are both of them...

get a set of rings that lowers that scope closer to the bore, then you can have a positive cheekweld.

Try an A2 stock?

There's also the Magpul PRS stock for a little less than $300 if you want to drop that much.

Glad you brought that up. I forgot to mention that when I used my laser bore sight (chamber deal), I had to adjust the scope elevation all the way up (Sorry if I do not know the proper technical terms) to meet the laser at about 20 ft. There is nothing left. I haven't taken it to the range yet, hopefully tomorrow, but if it is shooting low, I am screwed I think.

The same bore sight works great in my Bushmaster with the EOTech.

I am also considering one of those. BTW- what kind of grip is that?

PRS is your friend when you a scope mounted that high

Cheek pad on an A2 stock is very helpful also

Nice rig BTW

Ergo Taget Model Sure Grip, I bought it from J&T Distributing, aka Doublestar folks, $70.

Actually this is the pic I was looking for.

The other thing about this stock is the bottom is flat for resting on bags.
The CAR stocks do not rest well on bags.
If you're shooting of a bench like I do for Pdogs you will ahve alot more success with type of stock.

Thanks. I was thinking about the PRS to balance it out a little. That barrel is heavy. Now that it has been brought to my attention, I may just get one.

Ummm.....Tacti-Cool?  Get a bolt, and it better be over 4k fps to qualify as a varmint rig.  Nice try, your refund is at the door.

Edit:  As a Southerner, I never did "Varmint" anything until I moved to WY....you really need to move out west and shoot 300+ yards on a prairie dog.  But...still a nice rifle.

Yeah that is an issue, you will want to mount that scope lower, I like to have them as low as possible, most of mine you can just slip thin cardboard between the scope and barrel or action.

Here is the reasoning behind this...  Parellex.. will kill you with a scope mounted high like that.

Aside from that, the scope mechanics are going to be working against you, you have the least amount of distortion in the center of the lens, when you have to make that much adjustment the reticle is no longer centered and that distortion shines through.

Also when that amount of deflection is created by say.. all of your elevation adjustment, you also run out of windage adjustment because the mechanics of the scope will not allow alot of both.

A set of windage adjustable rings and lowering the scope closer to the bore should give you a tackdriver in that rifle, handload for it and you will be shooting one hole groups.

Optics can be tricky to mount properly but when done right will increase the accuracy potential of your rifle.

That pic of my "Varmint gun" (no bolt) in the case is 4K fps (243WSSM) and is hell on Pdogs.
The only shooting we get here in Az is 300+

What is it about "my" AR that does not qualify it to be a Varmint rifle to you?
Trigger; Timney 3#
Barrel; Shillen w/ comp
Stock; Magpul PRS
Optics: Nightforce NXS 5.5-22X56 NP2

I have already put alot of bolt guys in their place with this gun just because they wanted to talk bad about my black rifle.
I'm not saying that you don't have a nice varmint gun, but realy don't sell these things short until you've tried them at long range.

That's pretty much exactly how my friends rifle is.  Scope, bipod...

We were gonna put an adjustable trigger in it but he decided to spend the money on more ammo for it.

And yes that thing is a tack driver.  We were dropping rabbits at 300 yards no problem.

I found it at Walmart for $129.
They had a nice Nikon there a few weeks back...  I went there looking for the Nikon, but they were apparently sold out. All that was left was the Bushnell... One look through the glass and it was mine. I think the Bushnells are the best "bargain" scope out there.
They are WAY better than any Simmons or BSA's...

If you don't want to drop $300, I find this Chaote E2 stock works really good for bench shooting varmints, giving a place to hold your non-trigger hand.  I also have a lead weight inside of this one and it helps keep the gun very steady so you can see your hits through the scope with little effort..  the stock cost about $42.

Finally got her out tonight. Ran flawless. Did okay at 100 yds, but I definitely need a sturdier stock. I was just using the Bushmaster collapsible tonight. I think I am going to go with the PRS to balance in out a little.
