Kind of interesting what people will sometimes come up with when they do not have easy access to firearms.
Just pictures Ive saved over time. Share them if you got em.

This one was the handy work of the unabomber

Captured Chechen submachine guns

Not homemade, but still quite interesting. This was from a thread here not too long ago. It is a mosin nagant rifle turned into a "handgun" called a Obryez.

This was also from a recent thread. It is just an illegal SRB with Illegal suppressor used by a poacher.

Quick google image search turned up
ZIP GUN: A 4-barrel zip gun found on the shelves of the Kingston Penitentiary library on October 1945. The trigger, now missing, was a clasp from an overshoe

Another one from google image search
A homemade cannon

He's a brit who got busted for building a home-made hardware store 9mm smg... and writing a book describing the process.  I might have misspelled his name.  Try P. A. Luty.

Im thinking it would have less than you would expect. There would be a huge decrease in velocity....which should mean less opposite reaction. Right?
Im not sure the paperwork that would be involved, but somebody here should do this AND POST VIDEO!

Speaking of SGN..... A few months ago there was a great article about some Iraqi dude's WECSOG'd G3-K.

Basically, he took a captured Iranian G3, shortened the barrel, put a shortened AK gas piston on it, and cut the stock.  Oh, and he removed the sights (sights? who needs those?).   A true classic.  I'd never shoot it, but it'd be a great conversation piece.

theres one good book out there dedicated to the subject, I think its called Zips, Pipes and Pens or something like that.

It goes over everything from the Liberator pistol, improvised ammunition, zip guns, includes a silenced 9mm SMG made in a prison to the counterfeit guns of Darra.  Its great proof as to why gun control doesn't work.

see, i think there should be NO restriction on home gun building.  if you're smart enough and have the resources/ingenuity to do it, by all means go for it.  And if you're not smart enough and don't have the ingenuity to do it right... well the problem gets solved pretty quick too.

It may vary by state, but I was always under the impression that homemade guns were legal if they do not break other laws such as SBR, illegal full auto, etc.

What is the legality of making your own gun?  I assumed that since we can make our own AK receivers (barring selling them without proper lawful markings) you could MAKE anything you wanted as long as it doesn't involve NFA (and even then with proper markings you can make SBR's, SBS's, and AOW's with a tax stamp.

Rigging a sten-like open bolt MG has been one of the simplest forms of underground arms in war torn countries.

I don't know if this one is a production gun or a home-made job.

This begs the question of why you don't see LC-Smith style handguns. You could get a readily-concealable handgun in a big caliber. Or maybe they'd go into the same niche market as the Thompson Contender, but with multi-shot capability.

I actually have instructions for the improvised recoilless launcher the IRA terrorist is holding in my previous post. From what I understand, they tended to be more dangerous to the operator than anyone on the receiving end.

Also, look up Metral. He's a Swiss dude who decided to design a 9mm SMG suitable to production in home work shops for use in insurrections, civil wars, or home defense. It's an interesting blend of the CZ-24, Uzi, and Sten SMG's. His book is still being published in the US by Paladin Press, though I can't imagine he's very popular in other countries where things are a little more... despotic.

It's an interesting look at engineering and design. It's unfortunate laws have become so restrictive these days that no one can tinker like that any more. Instead of geniuses like John Moses Browning, Richard Jordan Gatling, Hiram Maxim, etc., we'll just have more felons wasting away for the rest of their lives in prison for daring to invent while rapists, murderers, and drug dealers get out without even serving a third of their sentence.

Perfectly legal to make your own gun at home.  BATFE's FAQ even STATES its perfectly legal to do so - as long as its a legal configuration like an AR-15 or a 1911.

After the gun is completed (you MUST do all the work yourself) you have to have built the gun for your own use.

No serial number is required at all.  But, its recommended that you make up a pretend, fiticious serial number and stamp it on the gun in case its ever stolen.

LOTS of pics of home-made guns here on arfcom.  And all the info is on the BATFE FAQ.
