| Who has/ has to get a TWIC badge? I had to go pickup my TWIC badge today. This is a new program that the fed.gov came up with to do background checks on anyone doing work in the USA waterways. I do work at power plants, chemical plants, refineries and sometimes I go offshore. so 80% of my work has companies that touch a waterway. What gripes my butt about this is that this cost the company $130+ for this background check/electronic badge. I had to get finger printed electronic way so that one way for me to be identified is with a finger print on a scanner. Back to picking up my card today. I had to place my finger on the scanner. I was told that I was pressing too hard. So I barley touch it and still they could not identify me. So I had to try the other hand, still no go. I got the card anyway, great to see all that money on the scanners work like crap. What a waste. |

Well, you just spend $132.50 for what? More national security? What a joke! Police in many locales are warned not to inquire about immigration status... meaning if a illegal is in the country, just look the other way. Do they think that Manuel the Lawn Care Specialist or Achmed Mohammed the Terrorist is paddling around in a little rowboat, climbing up the leg of an offshore oil platform, and catching a ride into the US on a helicopter, without anyone noticing, of course? Apparently that is one of the things they are guarding against. Wow! I really feel safer! |
