So I live in Tucson, and it's fucking dry. As a result my lips dry out frequently and start to peel a little.
It seems I'm in a never ending cycle of my lips drying out, peeling, being chapped and maybe bleed a tiny bit, then heal up for a few days before repeating the cycle. I use chapstick with moisturizer and it doesn't seem to help beyond the short term.
Anyone got any ideas?

Reminds me of when I was a kid---had chapped lips and Dad said to rub cow manure on them.

I looked at him like he was crazy and he responded:  The cow manure won't help the chapped lips, but it sure will keep you from licking them!

I like Carmex in the jar.  Seems to last longer on the lips.........

Try something that comes in a jar, not the tube.  Like Carmex or Blistex.  That way, when it melts in your car in July, it won't ruin it.

I've had good luck with the Avon brand of "chapstick."  It has no color or taste and works well for me.

Try getting some of the high SPF chapstick/blistex with SPF 30 or more, may be sunburn issue.....

Carmex in the jar. I am in Reno, and it is high and dry. Carmex stays on longer than anything else.

Avoid using products with wax or parafin in it.

This traps germs and bacteria under the wax and causes infection.

Carmex has some ingredients that will actually dry your lips out. Stick to regular chapstick or something similar.

I've used Chap-Stick for years and I haven't had problems.  In fact, I end up having problems with chapped lips when I forget to use Chap-Stick.

It's possible that your condition has nothing to do with humidity, or any other form of moisture for that matter.

Many things can cause chronic lip peeling beyond the level of moisture in the skin, including, but not limited to, incessant lip licking, contact dermatitis (fancy way of saying you're allergic/sensitive to something, e.g. toothpaste), fungal infections, immune disorders, nutritional deficiencies, and even psychological disorders.

If it persists, I would consider seeing a dermatologist.

Lots of people seem to be recommending burts bees maybe I will try that out.

The only cause I can think of is that I am subconsciously licking my lips or something. So I'm trying hard not to for the time being.

Thanks for the additional info liles, I will keep it in mind.

Chapstick medicate petroleum jelly was some awesome stuff, although I don't think they make it any more all I've been able to find lately is the balm.
