I'm debating some folks at my alma mater who did a "lie in" commemorating the VT shooting and trying to connect it to the "gunshow loophole". One of their assertions is that although the shooter passed a background check the store did not make him wait the required 5 days to pickup the gun. Has anyone heard this? Did VA have a 5 day waiting period when he bought these or does VA have one now? Thanks for the help. |
It didn't and wouldn't. I am pretty sure there is a One gun a month in VA, and he waiting one month to buy his second gun and shortly after went on his rampage. So, not only would the 5 day thing had been useless, but the one gun a month was useless as well. ETA: Wikipedia has info on the guns and 30 day period and stuff. Sounds right to me. |
1. sarcasm. 2. one gun a month is true, if you dont have a chl. |

Everything was in place to prevent this piece of shit from ever buying a gun. But he just walked right in and picked up his guns legally. No "loophole" or any of that BS shit. The State failed to act, and now hippies scream about more gun control, thus relieving the State of any responsibility, which is then placed on the weary shoulders of gun owners. I love it when the brady folks banter about how 400,000 criminals have been stopped from buying guns because of background checks-but why weren't any of those people ever arrested? Is it not a crime to try and buy a gun if you're a criminal? |
Remember what two black guys in a car with one rifle did to the greater DC metro area several years back? Be glad most crazies are impatient, unable to plan, and so consumed with anger and self hatred that they self destruct quickly. |
