I agree, kickass. I've always wanted a gladius. I've got a few swords that started as ornamental flea market crap, then I cut off the threaded part under the fake handle and cut down a portion of the base of the blade to make a new handle, one is simply wrapped in string the other is encased with weld in an iron pipe filled with lead to give it balance, with a 2x2 square of sheet metal for a katana style andguard. They are crude but functional, before I began cutting they were prettier but not functional, they had a thin threaded piece of crap under the wood of the handle and would break or bend if you whacked something with them. |
