Regardless of the fact that this is a privately owned site, I would strongly suggest that you let the PEOPLE who frequent this site decide things everyonce in a while...

As always, I still beleive that you and other staff and moderators are far too heavy handed in your "moderation" of these forums. As such, I still beleive your decision to lock me out of my original account ewas unjustified. So I propose this test...

You or I post a poll with a link to my last string:
http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?id=68241
with the simple question: Was the locking of World_Wolf's account justified. After 3 days, the poll results become binding. If they rule in your favor, you'll never have to deal with me again. On the other hand, should the people decide that you were wrong, you are to restore my original account.

And why not agree to this proposal? The only thing you have to lose is me. [devil]

if you're so unhappy with the moderation of this site, why don't you remove yourself from it?  i sincerely doubt the rules are gonna change just because you don't like them.  (would you be the one that called this site "unconstitutional" in a previous thread?).  not a flame.  but i never understood the people who piss and moan about something but continue to subject themselves to it.

just let the thing rest.  or start your own damn poll.  you can do that, ya know.

Maybe I'm not making myself clear... or perhaps some people are just skimming the lines and not reading the whole message...

I want my old account unlocked, NOW!

It was unjustly locked (see http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?id=68241), because I dared to 1.) Voice my disagreement with a moderator, and 2.) stand up to his threats.

I frequented this site long before it even had a forum. I used the information from this site to aquire my ar15s. I thought the new forums were a great idea. But for some reason, the owners decided to stack the senior staff full of commissars, and people are literally disappearing from the site for some of the stupidest reasons. Fortunently, it's proven immpossible for the staff and the moderators to actually keep people off permanently (myself being the perfect example) and their threats are ultimately worthless.

4) No pissing matches. Its fine to disagree, but once a thread has run its course, and degenerated into little more than an insult fest, it will be locked.

.
.
.

7) No personal attacks towards ANYONE. If you have a problem with someone, then take it offline with them. If it's with a member of the staff or a moderator, then contact someone from the Senior Staff. Attacking a person, ANY PERSON, in a non-joking manner (clearly visible as a joke) will not be tolerated. Joking and teasing are fine, but if you cross the line, apologize before things get worse. This includes provoking someone into an attack.

Hi Wolfie.  Sorry to take so long, but I was out with family and friends.
You're right, this is a privately owned site,
and therefore whatever rules the owner sets should be respected. Failure to do so can result in not being able to be a part of the membership here.

As far as you strongly suggesting anything, thanks, but I strongly suggest that you realize that demanding anything is not going to get you anywhere. Telling me that you want your old account unlocked NOW, didn't get you a lot of points either.

My original decision stands.  If you've got a problem with this, I suggest you contact GoatBoy.  Until then, buh bye.

Maybe I'm not making myself clear... or perhaps some people are just skimming the lines and not reading the whole message...
I want my old account unlocked, NOW!

As to skimming the lines;  I have to restate things often because many here seem to have such trouble with reading comprehension. Sometimes you want to SHOUT because it seems to take extra emphasis to get people to read EVERYTHING and consider it before replying.
Gawd, is the English language so hard to communicate with?

Your Account: I think you should seriously consider this is the time to retire your old screen name. C-mon!  Just how much value are we supposed to place on any one screen name? Most screen names are just “virtual personalities.” Very few ppl are actually as presented on screen, and that is proved out on 100's of UBBs across North America.
Geez, don’t let the mods act like they can pull your Govt. I.D.!  GET CRUCIAL!

Since you obviously don’t get around {the Internet} much, I will give you clue. A UBB is a community of ppl {Posters, screen names, what you will} and without the posters it’s a ghost town.
And as in any community, you should be able to address grievances about how it’s governed.
If for instance, you don’t like how YOUR community is governed you should not have to run for Mayor, or move you house.
So since a guy wants to petition publically for JUSTICE, you want him to sit down and shut up.

Let me put things this way and you see if you can understand...
DonR runs the show with EdSr when I'm not around . . . . . .  (EdSr is open game cause he's a pain in my ass and has been on vacation hunting for the past 2 months!!! ) . . . .  I seriously hope you email Don and work this out OFFLINE, because these forums ARE NOT the place to deal with this.
View Quote

Now, Let me put things this way and you see if you can understand...The references to EdSr are very intriguing for what is not said, and how misleading it is. There have been other references to some type of family falling out between father & son. That is what the “pain in my ass” is about. However it would be a mistake to infer anything about the “open season.” The TRUTH is that both are as tight as you would expect any father/son to be, and you can bet  your email will be copied form one to the other within a day, and there is considerable cooperation. Don’t take that route if you value your screen name. Go outside and relieve your stress by juggling  hand grenades instead. Safer and more predictable.
RE: “you email Don and work this out OFFLINE”
See item # 4 above. What was the word I used? Yes. disingenuous. This is how the system really works. The decision was cast in stone BEFORE they wrote about appealing the decision to another authority, who had no intention of answering the email.

Conclusion:
It was asked in another {locked - no suprise!} thread: “If the site is so horrible, then why keep coming back?” Well, my analogy goes like this. There’s this community, here in our Metro area. I suppose that most of the ppl who live there are nice. But the Police Dept is corrupt, and the mayor supports it. I have to pass through on business oftentimes. I have every right to be there, it’s an open community, public roads and such. But you have to watch you’re a$$ as you pass through. Your common rights are at stake. See?

I like AR15. I like a lot of the ppl here. Because the site exists, and the current crew runs it, does not infer by any stretch of logic that they make consistently GOOD decisions. GET CRUCIAL!
And it can be pointed out there is as much whinning about “this forum belongs to the owners of the site. You should conduct yourself as if you were at somebody's house.” as there is on any other subject. It is almost childish to open a house to all strangers, then b-tch and complain when the general public made up of ppl from across a continent don’t have the same political viewpoints as those that hail from Penfield, NY. GET REAL!

Here, try THIS on for a reality check. If this forum is like somebody’s HOUSE, then move the d@mned thing OFF the information highway and onto a private road! If you don’t like or are “workin my ass off and not in the mood to tolerate it” then take the site PRIVATE

The only solution for now world-wolf, is to have 1 screen name that is ingratiatory, saccharine, submissive, subservient fawning, sycophantic, ad naseum.
And another screen name to use to stand up and say, “No sir, I disagree with you.” Expect this screen name to be bayoneted often.

you just don't give up, do you?  even in a different screen name.

the conclusion you should be coming to is that you have a right to be anywhere you want, but that anywhere doesn't have to cater to your whims.  if you don't like the town you live in, move.  if you don't move, it's your own problem for letting yourself be subjected to things that you dislike.  your analogy of your town falls short in a way because you do have recourse to avoid the "infringement" upon your rights.  you can pack up and move.

likewise, you have every right to be here insofar as you (or any of your alter egos) follow the board rules.  however, don't expect the way things are run to change just to suit you.  if you don't like it, leave and don't come back.  you do NOT have a right to expect things to be done your way on a site that is NOT yours.

I said many things to many ppl in that two post missive, and one of those things I said to Dire_Wolf becomes salient here: <<“As to skimming the lines; I have to restate things often because many here seem to have such trouble with reading comprehension. Sometimes you want to SHOUT because it seems to take extra emphasis to get people to read EVERYTHING and consider it before replying. >>”
First off,  There was nothing about “infringement” or living in a town in my post.

Second: The quoted part by our esteemed member ARLady proves my point. Some persons either have reading comprehension skill deficiencies or are so quick to attack that it must be malice towards a person that propels their fingers on the keyboard. I think that’s why ARLady throws the “ leave and don't come back” in our faces. She just wants to fire a shot.

From thebeekeeper1 we have this: <<“But, but, what about the 1st Amendment? I have my rights, you know, you Nazi.”<<
And I really expected better from a 40something. But as much as both of these members claim its important to follow the forum rules, they bend them to the maximum to be as provocative as they can be, rule 4) “No pissing matches” notwithstanding.

From Don_R we have: Was there something in this that was supposed to be a revelation that would make me feel so bad that I would change my views on supporting this board and it's rules??
Revelations? Not unless there are some here that haven’t figured out by now that the “take it up in private email” is a hoax.  Or that political viewpoints such as those that hail from Penfield, NY may not be accepted without question in the middle third of the country.

jean-claude,
Do you have a point to make or are you just looking to piss and moan in this medium because if you tried it in real life you'd probably wind up on your butt??  You have one very valid point. We cannot tell you what you can or cannot say. But, since this board is privately owned, we do have the right to tell you whether you can or can't say it here. If you have a problem with this, I can always put you in contact with the man who created, and has paid for this place long before you came along. It's his ball, and his rules. If you can't deal with this, find another game.

I made my point, and if people could read, or had something more than a one track mind, this discussion and those like it would not degenerate into a staff temper tantrum or a lockfest.

But one thing you said did pique my interest and it needs to be said sooner or later. It’s about the IRL in real life I’d end up on my butt. Is that what you would do, sir?  I think I will perceive that as a threat.

And while we are on the subject, replies such as Don_R’s should be examined in a critical light. For it happens that members of this board propose get-togethers occasionally. And I can’t imagine they will all be held on private land. And should they be held in a public building or a public range, I can’t imagine what’s going to be the outcome of this ill suppressed anger that some of direct towards other who don’t speak in Politically Correct Language.

The safest course of action may be to forgo any public get togethers until individuals can accommodate opinions other than their own w/o threats or tantrums, or schedule the meets on private lands.

Since I don’t want to “land on my butt,” and wish to preserve Jean-Claude for now, I will close this session, (and save the page for later anaylsis)

the "leave and don't come back" means nothing more than this:  if you are so fucking miserable with something or some place that all you can do is piss, moan, complain, whine, and cry about how horrible it is, perhaps you should consider a change of venue.  period.  what in god's green earth would compel you to stick around a website that is so devoted to reading comprehension problems, knee jerk reactions, unfair account lockings (which by the way, based on what i saw was not unfair, you flat out stated that you wouldn't abide by a certain rule)?  if it's so damn horrible, why are you still here?

and i most certainly do NOT get in pissing matches on this board.  i am well aware of the differences in plumbing and the advatages that you men have.  i would no more enter a pissing match and expect to win than i would stick around a place that was as unpleasant as you seem to think this one is.  now, on a more literal note:  to my knowledge, i have not engaged in any pissing matches.  i have been known to goad a few people, on occassion (BB comes to mind).  but i am not aware of any pissing matches with my participation.  please, show me where i have done this.  note:  so you can't try and put words in my mouth later...i am not denying it.  i just cannot think of any threads that i have posted on in which my participation would be seen as a pissing match.
