| I have never used Egay before. Today I placed a bid of $28 on an item that had no bids and no reserve price. Why does it now show the bidding at $9.99 and my "max bid" $28? I though $28 would show on the auction price. Whats the deal there? |
The seller evidently started the auction at $9.99 so that's your first bid. The bids will go up in fixed increments as each bidder bids that amount. For example if I bid $12.00 it would auto raise your bid to $13.00 until you reach your max bid and then you could raise that max if you wanted to stay in the bidding. Don't gripe, you may get the item for $9.99 if no one bids against you. Rob |
It's called proxy bidding... You bid the max you are willing to pay... But the bidding only goes as high as the last guy's max bid... Typically, bidding will stay low until the last few SECONDS of an auction, when the sniper-bot services place their bids... Folks who bid before the last minute to 5 seconds of the auction generally just drive up the price, and get beat at the end by the sniper-bots... |
