[ARCHIVED THREAD] - WTF ??? Injection knife?? (Page 1 of 2)

Yeah that is what I figured it did. How fast can a gas embolism kill you? Now they just need a way to load it up with marinade, so you can throw your prey right on the grill afterwards. |
I believe ( someone correct me if I'm wrong ) as soon as it reaches the heart, your toast. So however long it takes to circulate from the injection point to the heart? |

Demo video of co2 release The website for the manufacturer is down. http://www.waspknife.com/ Looks interesting. |

Reminds me of this... "A reported anti-frogman guard is (or was) dolphins trained to carry on the nose a device which injects a large amount of compressed carbon dioxide into the frogman. This would likely be lethal due to blood embolism. It is said that they were trained at Point Mugu. It was said that this device was abandoned because of fears that wild dolphins might imitate and start harassing ordinary divers. Today the mammals are primarily trained to force the diver to the surface using pushing techniques in the assumption that the majority of incursions can be addressed in this manner." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-frogman_techniques "Dolphins are also being trained in the swimmer nullification program, where a long, hollow hypodermic needle is placed over the snout of the dolphin for injecting compressed CO² into the enemy frogmen, the pressurized gas forcing the frogman's internal organs out of his body orifices." www.tagate.com/dolphins_resource_center/military_use_of_dolphins/dolphins_of_war.shtml |
Not intended for embolisms, intended to make you go *POP* ETA-Leave mooses alone, Bitch! |
That thing is more likely to create a more traumatic, nasty knife wound than it is to create gas embolisms. An embolism is INSIDE a blood vessle...they create problems when they reach the smallest veins, arteries, and capillaries in the brain, lungs, coronary arteries that feed the heart muscle, etc. If you stabbed someone in the chest cavity with that...it would CERTAINLY cause collapsed lungs, and tension pneumothorax...which is most likely the EXACT INTENT of that weapon, because it makes the most sense. |
|
Older shark devices like 'bang sticks' used a 12 gauge shell. The noise underwater is horrible (I used one once). Newer sticks use a cartridge to inject gas. Mr. Shark tends to float up and have control problems. This looks like an attempt to eliminate carrying both a stick and a knife. |
ah man... stab moose with this and pull the trigger (or push the button i suppose). do this and put the vid on youtube. priceless.. as a sort of an aside, i wonder if you could hunt deer with this thing and use it instead of a bow or muzzle loader.. would that be considered a 'primitive weapon' allowing you to hunt with a knife and thereby extend your deer hunting season? |
Could make hog hunting interesting too. |
Møøse ...someone will catch that. |

For $599.99 it had better be made of metals only found at the highest point of Everest forged by Blind Tibeten monks in a secret underground forge using the powdered bones of 100 Fairies to polish the blade. For $599.00 it had better fire bullet when you stab a shark. hat |
its not dumb.. its pratical.. you fill the compressed gas cartridge with cheese and gas. then bam inject the cheese into the meat and fry.. Yumm golden goodness! |
Oh come on. I can't possibly be the only person who skimmed the original post and thought: Cool!. A knife that injects a live WASP into your enemy! |
My command of physics may not be up to snuff, but that makes zero sense to me. How would a couple of ounces of air (which doesn't compromise the wielder's buoyancy) siginficantly affect a killing machine that can weigh a ton? Hurt like a mofo? Check Additional lethal force? Check Buoyancy? Not buying it. |
Møøse bytes kan be pretti nasti... |
how would you know? was your sister once bitten by a moose? |
No realli! She was Karving her initials on the moose with the sharpened end of an interspace toothbrush given her by Svenge - her brother-in-law - an Oslo dentist and star of many Norwegian movies: "The Hot Hands of an Oslo Dentist", "Fillings of Passion", "The Huge Molars of Horst Nordfink"... |

Hello, I have been noticing posts on different message boards about our knife and wanted to join the board to answer any questions you may have. First off, our site is currently offline because we are negotiating to make this weapon available to only military and police. We just want to make sure that we dot all the i's and cross all the t's while we wait for the word. Based on the outcome of our deal, we may or may not make the knife available to the general public. Now, on to the questions: 1. This knife was originally intended for use underwater to defend against predatory sea creatures. 2. No, the blade does not shoot off of the handle. It is a fixed blade that shoots gas through a hole in the center of it. 3. Yes, it is very deadly and can cause a lot of damage when used on a living creature. Not only could it possibly cause an embolism, but it can also freeze and displace organs at the point of injection. 4. No, it cannot inject any special seasonings or marinades as of yet. LOL. 5. We are looking in to the hog hunting community as a possible use. 6. The gas bubble created by this knife is 88 cu. in. when the cartridge is fully emptied into a target. That's enough to have an effect on bouyancy. I will check back on this board to answer any other questions you might have or you can email me directly at rick[at]waspinjection.com. Thanks for you interest and have a nice day. |
With the attitude of police/military only I can sure tell you that you will piss off many of your potential customers. |

I think you should reconsider the price point of your knife. Your marketing strategy of making the knife available to mil/leo only is sound, that tactic is sure to attract civilian interest. We all know that LEOs are not civilians, this has been discussed at length and we reached a resolution on the matter at the last HSLD board meeting. However, I could never trust my life to a knife that costs less than $2000. I think I speak for all of AR15.com when I say this knife must at least be four times it's current price before it could be trusted in the heat of battle all of us here face on a daily basis. I will also forward you a rough sketch of a wheelbarrow mount I think we would all like to see made available. Thank you |
Duh - because the military and police spend a lot of time dealing with predatory sea creatures. Haven't you SEEN 20,000 leagues under the sea?
