I am looking for options for less than lethal options for my wife.No matter how much I try she will not take the time to go to the range and be more comfortable carrying a pistol. So as a comprimise she said she would carry a stungun and pepper spray.I'm curious if any here has purchased these products and what works and what doesn't.My wife and I have spoken about the importance of rule #1, stay out of situations that would require her using anything as that is the best defense. So gentlemen what say you?

So long as she limits herself to confrontations with less than lethal felons she should be OK with those options.

For OC get Fox 5.3, it's like fire in a can.

For the stun gun (If their legal there) get a taser X26c

Lightfield makes a full line of less lethal.

I know their star round hurts like hell and makes a hell of a bruise. But at around 50 yards you could catch it in your bare hands.

It would be nice if she would make more of an effort to become more confident with a pistol but thats not the case.I'm sure many would agree that a gun in the hands of the untrained is probably more dangerous to her.

There's a civilian carry version of a taser (it even comes in pink for women).  I think it shocks the attacker for 30 secs, and can do so repeatedly, instead of the regular 10 sec that police usually use.

Sounds like a really good option, and doesn't require any hassle, because it's not a gun.

When i worked for a private security company i was trained by a PD to carry pepper spray. they said it is about 80% effective. I think the "taser" tasers are great! but they are a bit pricey.

Johhnybravo what type of spray did you get issued? My first thought was a taser but a bit pricey is right.I had a stun gun years ago at 65,000 volts,it was not cheap at the time and packed a great punch but I see much higher voltage ratings now and I am wondering what will hold up for everyday abuse?
