I clean my room a lot. Granted my room is pretty much where I stay when I am at home. But I have a huge problem with dust. I can completely dust my room and vacuum the floor on sunday afternoon, and my room will be dusty again by friday afternoon. Does anyone else have this problem? And if you do, are there any air purifiers out that focus on collecting dust?

A HEPA filter might help

When's the last time you replaced your furnace's air filter, or had your ducts cleaned?

Doesn't do a thing for dust.

For odors its great, but since it pulls shit outta the air, the shit just settles on everything instead of staying airborne, so the ionic breeze actually makes shit More dusty faster.

HEPA filters, any type of filtering cleaner, will collect shit on the filter.
Despite marketing and claims etc, the breeze "traps" very little shit on the grid. Very little. I've been using the sharper image breeze for about 8yrs, I went from the small one to the ultra mega motherfucker with UV light and all.

I can't stand using fan powered filter jobs and paying $30 a month for the stupid filters.

What kind of heat do you have?  I had a lot of dust when I had forced air.  Now, I have baseboard heat and much less dust.  If you have forced air make sure you change your air filter.  They make pleated filters which are better than the crappy floss filters.  You may want to cut some extra filter material for your registers also.  HEPA filters are great and I've also used and ionic breeze filter with success.

Pffft. Those things are snake oil. If he really wants to get crap out of the air, he needs a machine that forces air through a filter.

I'm a college kid, so I still live at home for the time being, but with that said I change the central air units filters every 2 months or so, and I have no clue when the last time the ducts were cleaned.

Not snake oil at all, actually.

Good on you for replacing the filters so religiously... I'd guess it's your ducts now. Have your parents clean the ducts out. I bet they'll freak when they see all the dust in them.

If you think its the ducts, go to walmart and get a good quality filter, they have one there with 2-3 layers of filtering, and a plastic mesh. Cut a piece that fits and stick it behind the duct cover with zipties or whatever. Check it in a month or two to see how bad it is. Maybe give your folks duct cleaning as a gift if it turns out bad.

Change the filters at least once a month.  Cleaning the ducts is a waste of time until you get them sealed internally.

I can provide extensive photographic evidence.
You'll have to wait for a week till it hisses again, as I just wiped the grids off about an hour ago.
