I heard this report this morning on my way into work and could not believe this shit. Anti-Idle Coalition

If that was at my Step-sons school I would have sat there with my 5.7L V-8 running with the AC on full blast and the windows down. I mean WTF? Maybe we should go back to horse and buggy. And didn't they hear that Global Cooling is the new hot button topic?

Group Says School Area Hazardous To Kid's Health

Marva Hinton 02/28/2008 07:36:53

A new group in Orange County is encouraging parents at two elementary schools not to leave their cars running while they wait for their kids.

"Idling vehicles, especially at schools, put off a lot of pollution, which can affect the children," said John Parker, a senior environmental specialist with the county's environmental protection division.

Parker says kids take in more air than adults, and their lungs are still developing.

He says several hundred cars come through each school every day, and they often idle for 15 to 20 minutes each time.

"A single vehicle dropping off and picking up children at schools puts three pounds of pollution into the air each month," said Parker.

Members of the anti-idle coalition include Commissioner Linda Stewart, the environmental protection agency, the American Lung Association and Metroplan Orlando.

They're kicking off this campaign Thursday at Shenandoah and Pine Castle Elementary Schools.

Well, first, their argument doesn't seem to be about global warming, it has to do with kids breathing the crap coming out of your tail pipe.

Ok, I can kinda understand that... but shit, what about those diesel school busses that stink of it inside??

They do mention 'three pounds of pollution'.  Heck mr John Parker!  I drop three pounds of pollution every time I go to the bathroom!

I should have said the live report on the radio this morning, they interviewed some guy from the "Coalition" and he was talking about Global Warming.
