| I recently downgraded to vista and have ah nothing but problems with file access. I cannot open Itunes. I get a system message that said " Itunes is on a locked disk, you do not have write access to it." I also get teh same sort of message when I try to access my pictures for edditing. Any one have any idea how to fix all of this? |

You are not having problems with Vista. Vista is the problem. The problem with iTunes is the result of a pissing match between Apple and Microsoft. MS is accused of screwing with iTunes on Vista so that iPod users will switch to the MS Zune. Edit...you can always get a mac and avoid the MS hassle. |
Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten. |
And *I* will never understand why I, and I alone, seem to be the only human on the planet who is pleased with and has had ZERO problems with Vista, or any other MS product, for that matter. Just damned strange. |
I wish I did for you. Are you operating as the Admin? As well, the message you are getting indicates to me that the new OS has moved iTunes onto a protected partition, so you may try diving into the OS and moving it to a different "drive". |
|
Are you in a position to un-install, save the things you are having problems with, re-installing, then installing the pics and iTunes "on top" of the OS? |
unfortunately, no |
|
You "downgraded", did you do a fresh install or did you install right on top of the existing OS? Check your permissions, Right click the folder then click Properties. Check the Security tab and make sure your Name is on the list. Vista, XP, 2000, they all work like a champ. 99% of the problems are the user not understanding the hardware or software requirements. |
I never actually installed the software, it came on the computer. |
Exactly the problem. Got it fixed. Thankyou! |
Yea uninstall iTunes and download the latest version and pray, contrary to the bullshit you hear here this is a iTunes/Apple problem. iTunes is a cluster fuck with problems no matter what Windows OS you run. |
