The stripper clip I'm sure you've seen before.
The larger "mouth" is used to slip onto the magazine while you use ypur thumb and press the ammo down the face of the strip clips and into the magazine.

The clips look like 5.56 clips, but those are strange spoons. I actually saw some of those in a shitty surplus shop last week, but I didnt ask about them.

As noted by some other posters above, the depicted strippers (as near as I can tell from a picture) are for the M1 Carbine, Caliber .30. The strippers shown are the later model, EACH AND EVERY ONE of which came with a Spoon permanently attached. The Spoon slides down around the Stripper for storage, then slides up to the end for loading into a Magazine.

Any more questions?
