Brady Scorecards
Reported by: Dan Wells
Thursday, Feb 14, 2008 @10:50pm EST

Officials in Pennsylvania have not done enough to keep criminals and other dangerous people from easily obtaining guns, according to the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

The new redesigned scorecards are being released  for all 50 states.

Pennsylvania earned just 26 points out of a total of 100.

Pennsylvania does have some laws to prevent gun trafficking such as background checks on all handgun sales including those at gun show.

“Our legislators have done almost nothing to stop the ongoing devastation that illegal guns are wreaking on our communities and families,” said Barbara Montgomery, President of the Pennsylvania Million Mom March Chapters of the Brady Campaign.

The Brady Scorecards are designed so that states can score up to 100 points across five major categories of laws: Curbing Firearm Trafficking; Strengthening Brady Background Checks; Child Safety; Banning Military-style Assault Weapons; and making it harder to carry Guns In Public Places.

The national state-by-state scores are available in complete category-by-category detail at www.bradycampaign.org.
