I knew a guy (an ex's uncle) that was up for a burough commander's job in the NYFD.

He was sitting in the Commissioner's waiting room for his interview, nervously, and took out a cigarette.

Just as he lit the cigarette the secretary said, "The Commissioner will see you now."

He put the lit cigarette back in the pack, put the pack back in his pocket, and went in for his interview with the Fire Commissioner for the City of New York.

Yeah, I know.

IIRC I only ran the girl once.  Fell off those "uneven logs", hit the ground and kept running.  The RI never noticed.  (but then again, those days are kinda vague, ya know... )
