Ok everyone, it's that time of year again where we have to start doing our Taxes, and I was wondering if anyone has used Turbo Tax that you can do at home on your PC, and how easy it? Is there anything I need to watch out for? |

Do it online, as it is $5 off and you get free e-file for your federal state return. I looked at both the store version which I did last year, and doing it online. Yes the store version can be had for $40, including state return. But, you will pay $17.95 to e-file. I paid $54 total for fed and state online with free e-file. I saved $4.00!!! |

Make sure you check your bank or brokerage house to see if you can get a discount on Turbo Tax. You may not have to pay full price. My primary bank (PNC Bank) gives me 15% off. I also get a discount for having an account at Vanguard:
So check your accounts, because you might be entitled to a discount! |

I've been using it online for 10 years (before they were called Secure tax) and it's easy as pie. I started using the 1040EZ and now I use the full 1040. It remembers my info from year to year and also does state taxes. I usually get my Federal return back in less than 7 days and state within a month. No need to buy the software! |

I used to do mine by hand took all day on a saturday or sunday, not counting the time I took before hand making sure I had all my 1099s and my w2 and any other paper work last year I had rebalanced an account and knew that would make doing it by hand take even loger so I got turbo tax worked great so I bought it again this year |

I just did and e-filed my fed 1040 through H&R Block for free. There is some program through the IRS where if you make less than a certain amount (I think its $54K) you can do it free. I was going to use TurboTax's version, but it wouldn't let me do my investment stuff. The H&R block version was a little less user friendly than the turbotax one, but let me do everything I needed to. www.irs.gov/efile/article/0,,id=118986,00.html |
