I'm sitting here watching Platoon...........is it just me or did the prop guys suck making this movie? I keep seeing carbines, A2 handguards, A2 flash hiders....heck even Sgt, Elias's weapon looks like a M4, complete with collapsable stock.......

I think the XM-177 had handguards like the A2, long before the A2 came out.
Collapsible stocks date back then as well.
A-2 flash supressors...I hadn't noticed that

Bareelburner is correct
however as you noticed the carbines in that movie had 16" barrels don't recall if they were A2s or not

CAR-15s and XM177's had A2 type handguards, but I always wondered about the 16" pencil barrels on Elias and Barnes' carbines, I don't think that's correct for the times.
But to answer your question, no, the guy didn't suck, that's a kickass movie.

Quoted: Platoon...Was a horrible movie.
Why? Because it had nearly every Viet Nam cliche ever?
I'm surprised they left out "walk around the gate, not through it".

My father is a Vietnam Vet and my grandmother went to see Platoon at the movie theater and walked out in the middle of it
