On my old computer, which ran Windows XP, just like my new one, if I hovered the cursor over a link the URL would show up in the lower-left corner of the bottom toolbar.  Came in real handy for avoiding rickrolls, lemonparty, and tubgirl links.  My new computer, however, doesn't do that; the URL of a link doesn't show up until I click on it.

Is there some setting I can change to remedy this

in IE, go to View > Status Bar (should be checked)

It is.  The Status Bar (didn't know that's what it was called) is still there, just like it was before.  It's just that the URL's aren't showing up on it like they did before.

See, I won't click on that because I can't see what the URL is...
