I have an apartment complex currently, and we're in the process of renovating it/upgrading to more efficient equipment.

The building was built in 1900 , and the furnace installed in about 1950.

We just had a new 100k BTU furnace installed, and now i'm starting to feel that I got jipped when Craigslist has decent ,relatively new units for a fraction of new cost.

I know how used units are less reliable, ect than new units, but i can still get warranties for some of these older units.

Anyway, I'm curious to know how difficult/hard it would be to hook a central A/C unit to the system so  I can cool the building with a central system ,rather than a bunch of power hogging window units.

Was an A-coil installed on the furnace?  Does the building have ductwork throughout?

Don't know about the A-Coil.

Yes ,ductwork is in the building, today in fact they're tying one part of the building with the other ,becuase we got a new furnace unit.

All of it has ductwork with the exception of a efficientcy unit upstairs...I figure ONE window AC won't hurt me (But 15 will!)

If you've got room in the ductwork above the furnace, you can probably put in an A-coil.

The "A-coil" is the indoor part and goes between the furnace and the ductwork serving the building. The condensing unit is the outdoor part.

Good luck on anybody giving you a warranty on something you buy off of the internet.

They might offer it on the web page, but it's not going to happen when the local guys come out to work on it.

100k seems a little small to be puting on a apartment complex, unless it's just a few dwellings.

Ac can be added to a furnace if the room is there in the duct work.
