I' am forced to use paypal one time only.

I'm pretty sure you have to have a verified account to move money around. I would rather mail a personal check than use paypal.

I've used it just one time for a Gunbroker transaction, and Yes, I had to open an account with a password, and all of that.  No big deal, and no hassel.  Seamless transaction.

I think you have to register, but you definitely don't have to get 'verified'.  Under no circumstances should you give PayPal your checking account info.  Use a credit card that is not linked to any bank account to make your payment.

For horror stories, check out PayPal Sucks

Use a Credit Card to set up an unverified account, you will have a limit of $2000 for total transactions that you can do before getting verified. (to get verified you will have to give them access to your bank account.)

Do the transaction, then close your account.

I had 4 of those accounts.

Do not entrust your money to paypal.

They can and will lock your account, and your money, at will, and for up to 6 months, and you have no recourse.
