I have recently finished my first AR. I really like it and want to get a scope mount that I can switch out a scope for my removable carry handle sights. What is a good one to get that should hold a zero if taken off and put back on? And where can I get it? Thanks

www.laruetactical.com/

I have an Aimpoint M68 mount from LaRue and its an 'overbuilt' mount. They would be my first recommendation

However there are also options from:

GG&G www.gggaz.com/index.php?cat=128&parents=69

as well as ARMS armsmounts.com/catalog.php?action=110&cat_id=1&offset=20.

As for where to buy, just check around with some of the vendors here - would recommend any of them.

Wow, those are nice, but pretty expensive. What other options are there for mounting a scope to an AR? (maybe cheaper, but not necessarily a quick detach option)

Thanks

If you're looking for something cheaper, look at the Rock River Arms or Armalite mounts.  You wont necessarily keep zero upon removing and reinstalling, but they are cheaper.

Read that again and then go with a LaRue.  Quality is expensive but it is a one time investment.

Bester is spot on!  Buy once, cry once.  You either want the best performance option or you don't.  Most people will be happier in the long run with the better gear.

I'd pick a LaRue or KAC.  The American Defense mounts are very nice, but I have not tried the re-zero.  ARMS are close enough re-zero to be acceptable to most folks.  I've played around with the new GG&G mounts and they are also very nice, but I haven't tried their return to zero either.  I would expect it to be acceptable though.

I've got the ARMS 54 on a Rock River Standard A4, returns to zero EVERY TIME. Never had any issues with it.

Would a 50mm scope fit on it?
