I acquired an AR from some closet knob goblin and he scratched the crap out of the barrel. the weapon was never fired but he didn't take care of it,it also has some rust on the gas block. So my question is what can I use to re-black(if thats what it is called) the barrel and gas block? Thanks in advance---------134thSIGNAL

Re-Parkerizing.  Can be done without much problem once stripped down to the bare barrel.

All other methods only cover up the damage, offering little in corrosion prevention/oil holding.
