And really fucking cranky....

Tonight the GF tells me that we are going to a college age (21-27yr olds) party for New Years. The party is at a private house of some guy that her (GF) friend works with I am very tempted to tell her no. It's not how I want to spend my New Years night, drunks, fights, and general douchbaggery.

Am I getting old and cranky or is this what they call responsibility?

For the record I am 31 and she is 26.

Little of both, probably.

Go to the party.  Think of it as a spectator event.

Suck it up and go with her, even if is only for a little while. Either that or tell her you had already planned a private evening to ring in the new year together... then hurry up and plan an evening.

You sound like me when I was 22, and in the exact same situation. You ain't old, you just know the score. You know what to expect.

House full of douchebags. We both know it.

If the measure of having good sense makes you old, then you are getting older faster than I did.

When you take a half a pill of Viagra, so you don't piss on your shoes, like some of us,
then come back and say your getting old.

I'm nearly in the same boat.  The party that I'm planning on is the same 'ol shit.  I've already fucked the single girls (doubt that there will be any new ones) that are going.  Doesn't seem worth it.

I'll probably still end up going and trying to set up a threesome or something then SIIHPAPP.  If it happens, I'll be sure to find and woodshed and use a wide stance.

I say go!
College chics get nekkid when they get drunk!

The Alpha Zeta Phomohs are easy to knock out when they are shitfaced, if not sit back and think of it as a spectators event

TAKE PICS OF THE CHICS!!!

You should go because SHE wants to go. Bullshit alittle bit. Maybe a beer or two to loosen up. There will probably be some fine ass to check out. Next thing you know your GF is drunk and wants to have a 3 some with some other woman. Its happen before.

I would much rater have a nice dinner and a few drinks at a small bar.

I went to college, had my fun (way to much) and lived my party years well beyond what they should have. I enjoy just hanging out with friends and family much more than a college apartment party with a flat warm keg of Milwaukee's Beast.

You know when you are really old when your insurance company sends you a 1/2 year calendar.

I'll be glad to take her to the party and I'm well, retired.  Enjoy life before you can't.  Next year it can be your choice of celebration.  Compromise.

Yes, you are "getting" old.

If you really were old, this would not even be an issue.

If I (I'm 50) really don't want to go somewhere, I just say "No."

From the first letter of Paul of Tarsus to the school at Corinth:
When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

It is called 'growing up.' It happens to most of us; congratulate yourself that you are noticing the difference!

I am 28 but I felt the same way until I became single, now I would kill to go to a party like that.  It has everything that I am once again interested in to offer:  beer, pie, and if the pie doesn't work out at least I have front row for a slugfest.

That's kind of where I'm coming from, post-divorce. If I wasn't single though, it wouldn't interest me.

Hell, most kids do..
Which brings the question..
How old do you have to be before people actually listen? >.<

wait till you're 41 you'd pay to go to a party with half naked college girls sort of

Take her to the party, but tell her ahead of time you really have no desire to stick around if people turn stupid. When they do (and they will), you can point it out to her and say it's time to leave.

31 is still young, you are barely out of your twentysomething years.

If you feel old at that age then it is because you want to be old. But don't worry, 40 will come fast.
