I'm visiting an old friend in NYC while I'm 'east' for the holidays... She had to work today so I decided to go pay my respects since I haven't been here since 2000. By far one of the most moving places Ive been. It didn't really hit until I went into the 9/11 museum next to the ladder house. There was this 60 year old man balling on a bench looking at a giant collage of pictures of the victims. Before I knew it I couldn't stop the tears and all the emotion of that day and following weeks hit like a brick. He got up after a few minutes and touched the glass over top of one of the pictures and said "goodbye" to it very softly... Made me feel sick to my stomach knowing this guys wife, kid or friend was killed just a couple hundred yards away. never forget. |
