| Anyone have experience with these? Converts a 1911 or Glock to a carbine... |
|
They work. Metal frame stock needs reinforcement to eliminate the 'sproingyness', but that's a minor fix, if you have even minimal shop skills. They are most effective with some king of optical sight, like a red dot, etc., but no point in spending high end dollars unless you just can't stand the mid-price stuff. I used an Aimpoint on a 1911 version, but any number of cheaper options would have worked as well. YMMV. |
I use / used a BSA red dot on mine. It was / is more than accurate at ranges up to 100 yards. |
| I have a .45acp MCC for a 1911 frame. It works but the combination seems a little flimsy (sheet metal tabs engaging the rails on the frame). It does NOT come with any sights (I mounted a Tasco red-dot, accurate to 100yrds or so like others stated). It does NOT hold open on the last shot. The buttstock leaves a lot to be desired (worse than round wire). You are limited to 1911 magazine capacities. Simple blow-back so it is dirty to operate, hard to keep clean. Overall it is fun, but I consider it simply a novelty. |
IANAL, but they cover this (or did) on the MechTech website. It (the CCU) is not a (the)gun, it's like an upper for an AR. Just another slide assembly. Not serialized. So it's just a edit: I think a long barreled pistol would be a no-no, thus the permantently attached stock. |
Nothing illegal about a long barrelled pistol. A pistol can be of any length, and have any length of barrel. It just can't have a stock. IIRC the TC decision is what applies here. You can turn a pistol into a rifle, and back, but you cannot legally have the stock on it when the barrel or overall length is less than 16" or 26" respectively. |
I love gun laws. I feel safer already.

I knew someone would have the right answer. |
Might be more fun if the $$$ for the barrel were spent on a stamp instead! |
I wanted to be able to travel with the pistol at the time..when I get out of college I'll SBR a glock for that stock also when I got it I did not even know SBR's were legal with a stamp |
