My son is home on leave. Going to Italy for four years. He has a German Shepherd, three years old, intelligent, beautiful animal he has raised from 6 weeks old. We kept her for threee weeks while he went to instructor school. He got home yesterday. Twenty minutes ago the dog jumped out of his truck, ran across the road, was hit and killed right in front of us. He's behind the house in the woods digging a grave for her right now. He loved that dog. Merry damn Christmas.

My sadness is for my son. When something happens to your child, even though they are grown, its a thousand times worse than if it happens to you. I tried to help him with the grave. He asked me to go inside. I can hear the shovel each time he pushes it in the ground.

Was it chasing after something ?

Nope, just exuberance, typical happy dog. Just finished burying her. He let me help put her in the grave and cover her up.

Been there done that.  <sniff>  Damn.  This beer must have dust in it or something.
