The wife bought me a Model 7 for christmas this year and told me about it a while back. She also got me a Nikon scope for it, (God I love her!!!) But the idiot behind the counter didnt tell her she needed scope mounts. I asked the guy today and he said that the model 7 is so new that they dont carry mounts that fit that gun. Is it really different from other Remington models or was he blowing smoke up my ass? |
| It does take a different mount, but any well stocked shop should have them. Your gun shop guy's a crack head, the model Seven has been out for about 20 years. The earlier models only had one mounting hole in the rear bridge of the reciever and require a one piece mount, while the later models have two holes in the rear bridge and can use a two piece mount. |

I would go with a Leupold steel one piece dovetail mount with Leupold turn in Rings, thats what I use on my 7. I'm not a big Weaver base/mount fan. ETA: What caliber? I have a 223 that I've had for years and its a good shooter, been thinking about adding a 7mm-08 as well. |
