I go to a college where everything is based on teamwork and group projects. In my one class I'm on a team w/ 3 other people. We have had since the start of the semester to come up w/ a business and create an internation business plan for it. This report has to be 25 pages long, etc. Now I'm the only one who has really done my part of the project. I completed my 5 pages of work and have been trying to get everyone together w/ their part so we can put everything together, etc. No one has started this until about two days ago, we've had over 2 months to work on it. When I've tried to set up team meetings in the past few months the group for some reason can't get together, read: they don't have their shit done so they can't talk about something they haven't done. Now my grade is based upon the team grade to a certain extent. Today the professor told us who would be presenting their projects on which day and the two guys in my group that never show up to class didn't show up again and the girl in my group was late so she didn't hear the announcement, so to my knowledge they don't know when we're presenting. The girl in my group is useless, she thinks our company is entering the european market when we're really entering Japan. She's known we were doing Japan for our country since the 2nd week of class, but when she showed me what she had done last nigh ( about 4 paragraphs) she was talking about Europe and the Euro! So the decision is what do I do to handle these idiots?

1. tell them the day we are presenting, shut my mouth and just let the team get credit for a project I know I'm going to have to do 75% of by myself not including a powerpoint presentation I'll also have to do.

2. Don't tell anyone the day we're presenting (they should of came to class today, right?) and if they miss class the day we present then I just present the project myself.

In my opinion their lack of involvement in the class and in the project is unnacceptable. This isn't some shitty state school or wannabe college. It's a top 50 ranked business school and is ranked top 10 in some categories. So based on that I think everyone has a standard that needs to be kept and I don't think they have set this standard on this project.

Cool, I live about 30 miles north of there in a small city between Syracuse and Oswego. Like I said do it on your own, and good luck to you.

Fuck them. I'd tell them the day, (and only grudgingly) but that's it. No more badgering or bullshit.

If your professor knows you and your work at all, then he'll see through and know that you upheld your part of the bargain, and they did not. Teamwork requires a team, and you didn't have one.

I had the same problem in college more than once.

Go to the prof. he/she will work with you on it.

Talk to the prof.  Though you should have brought up this mess earlier to the prof/TA, it may help to bring it up now.

tough call...

talk to your professor, make sure he/she knows that YOU did the work and that the rest of the group is a bunch of leaching slackers--if the professor doesnt know that already

hopefully, if the teacher knows that you did the work and the rest are bums, which if attendence is kept, they should figure it out, then i'd just show up and not tell the rest in your group as it is THEIR responsibility to know deadlines/what yall are doing/etc

h/w, if the teacher doesnt care WHO did it and the group is graded as a whole (like most engineering project groups at my school), then you are SOL w/ the grade--some professors dont care who does the work as long as it gets done...in which case, the bums in your group will get the overall grade

one saving grace: hopefully, your professor will take into account who turns in the most viable info and presents the best (hopefully you since the rest are lazy retards...) and factor that in to your benefit

Wow, I hate that team shit, lol, because you're always bound to some group of fuck-ups that are determined to screw your project up.  I had a team project once in college where the 4th guy showed up at the last minutes of class, high as a motherfucker on meth, probably about 2 hits from a stroke.  Luckily the teacher saw how fucked up he was and discarded his ass from the group grade.  He kept telling the teacher, "I'm ready, just let me go! I'm ready!"  Sweatin' like a maniac and breathing real fast.  I thought he was gonna die.

+1

You cant make them do the work, and shouldn't have to. I would do my part, try to organize the rest of the group, but also have a chat with the professor about what you have had to deal with.

I wouldn't come across as a dick about it, just let him know you have done all you can, and that you hope he understands your predicament.

Good luck.

This sounds like some sort of collectivist bullshit were the group will get a better grade for working toghether in a group, rather than what it produces. I bet your group would be better off just reporting on why you agree that the Bush tax cuts some how hurt the poor, instead of you actualy coming up with a promissing business plan alone. Welcome to marxism.

I think it's really about teamwork in some classes because it's all you hear at a workplace, but no one is a team player, they're only out for themselves, so the idea is horseshit.  The problem with college is that these teachers have no fucking clue that most people at that age are working and taking other classes.  24 hours in a day people, only so much time to work on BS like group projects.
