As much as I hate to start this war i must do it to set my mind at ease. Let me say that first I hate the idea of a one world government. but see it as the only way for the human race to move forward. I have been spending allot of time considering the effects of several of the Government Actions that are driving us closer to a one world government. With the beginnings of the North American Union already in play, The European Union already up and running and talks of a future Asian Union, I would think that the next step would be to converge all three to become a Planetwide Union. I understand a bit about what the elite have to gain from making a one world government, but can't help to think about what Humans as a race would gain from a unified existence. I would think that we would be able to grow and expand our technology to unbelievable lengths. I believe that the only way for us as a race to survive is to go into space, starting out small and as technology grows moving towards a "Star Trek" type of civilization. Dispersed throughout the galaxy exploring which I think is one of the best things that we do next to war. My question is: Does anybody else feel like this is the only real chance for the human species to survive the long term (as in thousands of years). If not, Do you think we could reach the same goals with our current worldwide political structure? If so, why do you think so and why do we try to oppose the idea behind it so much? |

One World Government means an end to the competitive market (of governments). Like any other monopoly, quality, customer service and everything else normally driven by competition will decrease or go away all together. In the same way states rights are better than strong Federal government, independent nations are better than One World Government. I am here in the United States because of competition between governments. Governments vie for the best people they can attract to participate in their societies and to create the most conducive environment for success they can. I came to the United States because the US offered a better "product" to me as a "consumer" of government services. When the competition is gone they can treat the customer like shit. We don't want that; it'll be very bad for us. We want competition to drive excellence in government. |
That's the way I've always felt. Eventually there will be a one world government. Most likey not for at least another couple hundred years, but one day there will be. Just not in our lifetimes. |
| A one world government would have to be a tyrannical government to keep the peace. Humans always fight and always will fight, no matter what you do. It would crush and meld all cultures together, enforcing multi culturalism on a global scale. Not the kind of world I would like to live in. |
|
a one world government that evolved from a particular government where people prospered and flourished and were so successful and happy that the rest of the world wanted to emulate them would be ok. one where people followed out of fear or only accepted because their life would be a miserable existence otherwise is not ok. unfortunately. i think the us was on the right path and may well have been able to create a viable government with its model, but after so many concessions to idiocy, the government has lost focus, direction, and appears to want nothing more than to sustain its culture of self important mediocrity. |

one world government read - the fearful master then after realising that the united nations is a communist ploy well established and 3/4 of the way to global domination, come back and tell me that it's better for mankind. i've been reading some on communism, bucharin and the russian revolution to be exact. and you can bet that many of the social orginizations, unions, media outlets, and schools of higher learning in our own country are on board for this silent coup. our way of life is in jeopardy, and if i can see it, why can't everyone else? but most people allready buy the "global warming" lies, why not buy the one world gov. is good for you too 2D2C |

ETA: To go along with the O.P.'s request of keeping God out of the conversation, a one world government won't be good. It will most likely be a socialists state and the people would suffer. The third world would become worse than it already is. The government would eventually control all aspects of life as you know it. |
Well said! |
|
government = shit ^1 socialist government = shit ^2 one world government = shit ^3 you forget something, pal no piece of paper can ever take the place of honesty and goodwill, of which there is none in the world. can you imagine our country taking orders from some fucking pack of UN scumbags? never happen |
|
A one world Central Government is what you'd end up with. And by Central, I mean, one central, autonomous government with every land on earth a subordinate province. No local sovereignty at all. And it would probably be 100% democratic. One person = one vote. The rest of the world would outvote the USA and put in place taxes and laws designed to redistribute our wealth. Bear in mind, though, this is just a statist one-worlder's wet-dream. Its not like it'll actually happen. Only a tiny minority in this country actually wants that nightmarish scenario to take place. |

We are like everything else on this rock. We evolved and we will die off. The next go-around for our species will be better just like it has for every other species that has come before us and after us. Dinosaurs evolved and were killed off for whatever reason and life evolved again... It will happen again to man.. It's just how it works... |
I will keep Christianity out of this as long as you make sure it doesn't happen. When it comes to one government you will need to make up your mind, atheist, Christian, or Islamic. Read your history or look around the world. Religion and individual rights are the most defining aspects of government. |

As George Carlin once said, someday this world will shake us off like a bad case of fleas... www.youtube.com/watch?v=eScDfYzMEEw&feature=related |

Like what others have said, what scares me about one world government (no "a" needed!) is the top-down way it will work. Some dipshit living in NYC can't possibly know what works for a corn farmer in IL or a desert dweller in AZ. To expand that, imagine some asshole in Belgium trying to control the farmer in IL, the desert guy in AZ, AND the dipshit in NYC, plus some people in Beijing and Sao Paolo, all at the same time, under the same rules. Horse shit! Then consider the fact it will all be under socialist ideals. ETA: As much as I hate it, and as an obvious failure, it only seems logical that this is the natural progression. Things just seem to work towards it naturally.

Your mindset is very "Government-Friendly"... keep up the good work friend... |

Yea take away every reason the human race has advanced and just make us all mindless sheep. Might as well throw technology out the window along with personal freedoms, thought, diversity, etc. Every goverment is the world is based around religious beliefs and to deny that is madness. Take religion out of a government discussion and what do you have? No evidence of such a thing in human history but we could pretend it exists in fairytale liberal land. Big government is good... WTF have you been smoking? |
|
ROFL... that Bible is just a bunch of nonsense isn't it. I mean, who would have actually thought that a one world government was even feasible 100 years ago. Now it's actually under debate. There's a good reason why people who are advocates for one world governance don't want the Bible brought into the discussion. They don't want anyone to know about the rest of the story. It's coming. |

This is something I feel strongly about because we do need to be united under one government. With the whole world under one government we would no longer need defense spending, armys, navys, airforces, exc. exc. Maybe a national guard for natural disasters. Rather than spend most of our nations resources on defending aganst eachother our government would have the resources of the entire world, including the tax income of the whole planet over 6 billion people not just 300 million. The money, time, and resources could be better spent to wipe out disease, world hunger, homelessness, and my personal favorite A HUGE ASS SPACE PROGRAM because we need to expand to different planets and solar systems if our race is going to survive. unfortunately I dont think this will ever happen and I believe the human race will most likely die on this planet. With more and more nations getting nuclear weapons its not looking good. |

Wa'snt Rome somewhat of a world govt? It fell. I think it will eventually happen. Especially after a great catastrophe such as Asteroid, Meteor, Gammaburst etc... But will also later collapse under its own weight like everything else thats gotten too big for its britches. Apathy, Complacency, Incompetance, Pride, ignorance, beaucracy, and Polotics. *i guess we would all use Federation Credits. Not actuall money, but a cashless system. The govts know everything you spend your money on anyway. Would reduce theft. *Rural living might cease to exist. Cities could evolve into enclosed communities. This would cut down on polluting Gaia and preserve Mother natures beauty. Policing and Law Enforcment would be easier. Especially with having to install all of those cameras for our safty. Fortress/Pyarmid cities would also protect the Earth Citizen from hazardous Tornados, Hurricanes, Floods, Tsunamis, and other evniro hazards that fried meat eaters caused in the last century. *One trade language. Schools would be forced to teach it no matter what anyone thinks. We are after all...one people. *The idea of the Hunter-gatherer would be dead. Each according to their need as directed by resources. *Pacification forces would recruit heavily from bored, misguided youth who resent their parents. Just a few ideas from Citizen #110 from the 2nd District

The biggest problem with a OWG is who runs it... American empire (Or American-dominated 'Commonwealth', similar to the direction the British Emprie went before it fell)? I can live with that... UN becoming a planetary parliament? Hell no... |

One world government won't be practical or workable until and unless all countries are at essentially the same level in terms of ALL important factors: Economic development, social development, general education level, penetration and level of infrastructure and technology, and numerous other factors I won't bother to mention. In short, it'll be at least another 150 years before this world is ready for that. I don't oppose the idea of one world government so long as it'a an American EMPIRE. I believe it would be better for the rest of the world to live American style than for us to live in the style of ANY other country. CJ |
| Its interesting that the EU accomplished over a period of about 50 years with incrementalism what Hitler, Napolean or any number of dictators could not do militarily and with force. The aims of facism and socialism are generally the same. Socialism seems to be the more effective and palatable means to those ends (but, just like the old saying about a frog in a pot, by the time its too late everyone will be effectively cooked). |
The dream of dictators and other despots since the dawn of history has been to turn the human race into one big ant colony. So no, being an individual, I don't go for evil for the greater good. |
i welcome death if the only other option is a world led by scifi minded, treehuggin', al gore lovin', soviet sissies. no seriously, the same people who would have you beleive that the "ideas of man" are in man's interest, in the end, will be the people lining you up and shooting you in the head. 2D2C |
