Has anyone heard that the Army ACU pattern will be getting replaced in 2009 by multi cam? I saw this somewhere, but do not believe that it is true!

Keep praying with the rest of us. UCP isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

We keep hearing rumors that they are already working on the next pattern, supposidly to include a color or two that was/were left out of the current pattern, but nothing has been confirmed.....

ACU sucks, IMO.  Not a very versatile pattern.   Then again, warfare in the middle east isn't going anywhere...

The US Army's Future Combat Systems Demonstration folks (all regular Army Soldiers) had a ton of Multicam that they wear and demo.

The most recent picture I saw had the Soldiers wearing Gen II Crye Combat Pants, which to my knowledge were first introduced to the public at SHOT Show 07', which means the Army may still be looking at it.

However, the most recent videos posted by the Future Combat Systems folks over t their website show the soldiers in ACU pattern Crye Combat Clothing instead of Multicm like the older videos had.

My guess is that we'll continue to see ideas like the Crye Combat Shirt and Pants applied, but with an ACU pattern camo.

As a side note though it has been shown through pictures that American Special Forces (most likely Delta) are showing up in Iraq with Multicam.  The MOD of the UK is reported to have purchased some Crye Multicam for SAS.   The United States Boarder Patrol is purchasing Multicam like its going out of style as well.

My son (freshman cadet, Army ROTC at Norwich University - for what thats worth), just mentioned to me today that he was told that the Army will be getting rid of ACU's.

Just another rumor to add to the fire..

Crye Precision is a private company that has the patent on Multicam, produces their own line of clothing and protective gear, and if Im not mistaken jointly created the pattern with input from Natick (mil research place).
