Just got back from the Township-wide meeting ... wow, what a knittering bunch of biddies. We spent more of the meeting talking about planning issues (parades, traffic lights, developments, etc) then we did issues in our community. Then one lady got on a kick about how there are some evil hunters parking on the road just down from the park before dawn. We call the police anytime we see their vehicles. "It's *sniff* for the children *sniff* that we worry. What if kids are playing in those woods on the way to school?" [never mind it's 2 miles away and no kids from that area walk to school.] The one that got me was that a Neighborhood Watch Coordinator had a hot burglery and caught 2 men in her home. She screamed and they ran. They had hit 5 homes in 1.5 hours. The police dogs managed to find one guy, the other made it back to Philly before getting caught when his buddy rolled on him. Then there was one lady who ripped into the Chief that a man tried to abduct a teenaged girl in the neighborhood next to hers. She didn't learn about it until *gasp* the weekly Neighborhood Watch Crime Report. She argued and fumed ... didn't want to accept it when the Chief Told her they questioned the girl and the man involved. It was a stranger hitting on a girl who didn't appreciate it and called the police. The NW Coordinator lady didn't want to hear it. When the Chief suggested that it was a break-down of communication within her neighborhood she got royally pissed. Last, but not least, the one coordinator who wanted the police to knock on her neighbor's door and speak to them "They went on a vacation and did not pass the info to me." Freaking busy-bodies. Screw the Neighborhood Watch - Keep your damn "Neighborhood Watch" sign. I want a "Civil Defense" sign. |
