Regarding the wildfires: I made a comment that got some panties in a bunch about the karma of bad things happening to Californians. In the past, I have made it clear that I hate California and blame that poor excuse for a free state for many of the socialistic changes and laws plaguing our country. California has been the starting point for just about every liberal feel-good law/regulation passed either federally or throught the domino effect of state legislature. While, yes, there are plenty of maroons in the North East, California has become synonomous with the spoiled, greedy, immediate gratification, over-the-top, lets ban everything (not just guns) for your own good, big government, PC crap toilet that the rest of the world labels as "the US." The state is a circus and an embarrassment (recall elections anyone?). And, I know that there are A LOT of fellow arfcommers that feel the same way. California is probably the most-bashed state on this board. My comment in the other thread was akin to: It's just California. Who here cares? Let it burn. It's Karma. If I wanted to get Old Testement, I could say that God destroys places when they reach their limits of hedonism. But, I won't say that, because I enjoy my hedonism as much as the next guy! I don't want the other thread to get locked because there are a lot of good updates there for people who want them. Not everyone in California deserves this. My Sister in Law is living off base at Pendleton. My Brother in Law is currently a Marine and in Iraq. I am deeply concerned for her safety and well-being, as well as others in the military that are based out of California bases. But, they are not choosing to live there. They are not "Californians" in that when they are out of the military, station changed, or deployed, they will not be there. After the military, they will go back home. The Californians I am referencing are the ones that live there. The ones that rebuild their homes and business EVERY FUCKING YEAR using government aid and squeezing insurance companies dry for settlements. These fires are like clockwork. They happen EVERY YEAR. Are these people morons? Why stay in a place that is ravaged by wildfires annually? I'm from St. Louis. In 1993, we had a major flood west of the city when the rains caused the levy to break and the entire flood plain was under water. After the levy was fixed and the water pumped out, the tards just rebuilt their homes and businesses. Thousands of them. If it happens again, I will not feel pity for them in the slightest. It would simply prove Darwin right. Just as is the case in California. I am, actually a very compassionate person. But, I will not feel compassion for those who champion the destruction of the Constitution and our way of life (not that everyone there does this, but the majority do and I don't understand how the others can stomach staying), while destroying freedoms that we hold dear (not just firearms). This is my only post in this thread because I will not argue online. Feel free to flame me all you want. I just needed to say my piece. |

I agree with you in the abstract, but when people are being injured and dying politics and all that shit go right out the window, at least temporarily, these are still our brothers and sisters even if they have forsaken us in the past and they still deserve to be treated with a level of human compassion. -patry |

So , because there are a bunch of commies there , you wish for the whole place to burn and all occupants to be displaced or die? I don't have much compassion for the commies either , but they deserve punishment based on due process of law. No one deserves what is happening in Cali. right now. |

Would I be incorrect in saying that the main reason that they have so many fires that get so big in California is due to the envirowhackos succeeding in stopping any clearing of brush and thinning of trees? I hate what is happening to those folks out there, but was just wondering how much of it has to do with the aforementioned policies. |
Once the fires are out, is it then OK to criticize them for deciding to live in harms way? |

Of course you probably don't realize that in San Diego, where the most homes are being destroyed, and over half a million people have been evacuated is a Republican stronghold. There are more Republicans and Conservatives in California than in most other states, and probably in many states combined. However because of the way the districts are drawn it's almost impossible to elect any real conservatives to any position of influence in the state. And for all the btiching about Californians moving to other states and screwing things up, we are just fleeing the hippy liberal transplants that left your state in the first place, or the illegal immigrants that the Feds refuse to do anything about. |
