I hope this is the correct forum. My G22 was stolen back in March while I was gone for the day. Wife and chirrens were home as well as 3 or 4 of my eldest son's punk teenage friends. I came home and all the punks split. I thought, "Good." Started gathering up stuff to take my youngest son shooting in the morning and found my Glock missing. Called the cops, showed bill of sale, made report, etc. Gun was recovered the next day in traffic stop. Wouldn't admit stealing gun and wasn't at my house that night, but used to live in the neighborhood and all the kids knew him. Eventually pled guilty to theft by rec. and got probation, first time offender slap on wrist. Does this mean he rolled over on the actual thief, or did the prosecutor just want to clear a case? No answers forthcoming from police or prosecutors.I know I'm lucky and am thrilled just to have my gun back, but I still have Qs in the back of my mind. Anyone else with similar experience

I would think that if someone else were going to be prosecuted for the theft you would not have gotten your gun back.

It sounds as though the kid plead to a lesser charge.

And the prosecutor was happy to oblige to clear the case. I just wonder why it took over six months and three court dates (all of which I missed working) to get it done, when the arrest happened the day after the theft occurred. Hmm ...

How was your Glock "missing" when it was locked in a safe? It was locked in a safe with kids in the house right?

If it wasn't then your lucky YOU did not end up charged.

Many states require your firearms put away responsibly if there are kids in the house.

Especially if your son hangs out with "punk" friends.

You speak Engrish velly werr!

J/K

Never had anything like that happen to me, but if it was a first offense and it seems like the perp won't do it again then the judge usually goes light on them.
